Land Grab and a Shop
So recently, in conjunction with my SL uncle, Taff Nouvelle, we are setting up a store to sell our products and generally promote our ability to get you to buy our stuff. We each had a 512 m2 plot of land to call our own. However, as any fule no, 512 m2 plots are all but useless, due to the trailerpark syndrome that surrounds most such plots. The number of prims required to block out the surrounding ugliness is usually much more than most people can afford to use up with the prim allowance from such a small plot.
So our plan was to merge the two plots into a single plot. In addition, we decided to make a land group, in order to take advantage of the 10% tier bonus. If ever a suitably small plot of land becomes available in our sim, we may buy it to increase our prim allowance. But that’s way in the future still.
We did have a minor problem though. There is currently no process where you can transfer any land and its associated tier allowance together simultaneously to a land group you are in. The only method is to first sell the land to a 3rd party (ideally one whom you trust perfectly). Then you transfer the tier allowance to the land group. Then you buy the land from that trusted 3rd party on behalf of the group.
This is not a simple process. It’s easy enough to make a mistake. And we did. One plot of land was accidentally set for sale to anyone for a single linden dollar. And it sold instantly. Quite literally. There is a land group that has recently started running a land buying bot, set to buy any land that is marked as lower than a certain price per square metre, such as ours. Fortunately, it all ended happily. They agreed to return that parcel for the price they paid, and we were able to finish the land grouping. Next day we were able to consolidate the land in an exchange with yet another land baron.
So, now I have land for a shop. Well, we have land for a shop. Next step is to put all my old stuff back on sale. Some of the old items, specifically the pixie avatars, will be repriced downwards. When I originally priced them, the Linden dollar was incredibly weak, which justified the high price. It’s hard to justify that high price now the Linden dollar is stronger. You’ll also be seeing my old boot collection, particle-enhanced wings, buildings, and jewellery. Taff Nouvelle will be selling his child avatar shapes there, and I plan on adding avatar shapes (for adults) as a regular part of my line. I already do so for the rich and famous, so it makes sense to do it for everyone else too.
I really ought to get a slurl for this. In the meantime, our land is in Wetas sim, roughly in the centre.
