All We Need is… Radio Mythfit

Sunday, January 7th, 2007

So today as usual I did my music show. At first, it was almost dead. 2, sometimes 3 listeners for the first two hours. This was entirely caused by SL being broken again. Teleporting was down, and many private messages weren’t getting through. Nonetheless, I ended with a high of 15 listeners to hand off to the next DJ on the day’s schedule. I just hope DJ Omnifox didn’t drive everyone away too quickly, although apparently not, as the party was still going in full swing hours after the last scheduled show.

The Rat aka Golda

Saturday, January 6th, 2007

I am the most famous rat in SL. But, as fame goes, it might not last long. My fame comes from surviving 34 days in the Big Brother House, caged like a lab rat. Prior to that whole experience I ran around SL as a part time human and part time rat.

Dorie Bernstein told me about SL. It sound wierd. She talked about islands and being paid to sit in chairs. None of this made any sense. I caved in and started in SL April of 2006. I was hooked. I enjoyed exploring and shopping. Somehow I got interested in the furry population and did some research. And that is how I ended up being a part time rat.

August I somehow got roped into participating in a building contest at Dreams. My prior building experience was next to nothing. Building was the next thing that I got hooked on.

I accidently fell upon the information about Big Brother and decided to go for it. I figured that building with others would increase my building skills. I figured I would survive the first cut, but not make it into the game. And then on Thursday, I was one of three finalists. Maybe I didn’t win the island, but I was the winner. I won friends, new skills and new experiences.

Big Brother - The Aftermath

Friday, January 5th, 2007

First up, the dressup I mentioned in the previous post is totally unofficial, and is not organised by big brother in any way. Instead, it should be read as a tribute to the strength of the friendships we developed over the last month. It is still not definite, but will probably happen over the next 2 weeks if it does.

For those who don’t know, Madlen Flint won. Congratulations, Maddy. the after-party was hosted by DJ Strangelove, who provided some truly excellent music. I’m sure the usual SL-specific news outlets will have more to say on that, so I’ll shut up on the eviction event and winner’s party now.

I was going to finally post my deep and insightful thoughts into the recent Big Brother event in Second Life that I took part in, but after some interesting discussions with the crew of that event, I have decided to hold back on that long file. A pity really, as it would have given me posting material for a couple of weeks.

Instead, here is a picture of a BDSM merchant wearing 3 prim cocks and playing the accordion.

The Big Brother Alumni Dress-up

Wednesday, January 3rd, 2007

So the idea is that we each prepare a series of outfits, based on our own interpretation of each of the other housemates’ usual mode of dress style. I’ve tried to summarise these below.

  • Madlen - jeans and black tee shirt, tattoos
  • Rencius - silks or their male equivalent all round
  • Nina - ?
  • Pannie - ?
  • Phaylen - diva dresses and beehives (i.e. ball gowns)
  • Simone - ?
  • Diva - ?
  • Warda - arabian nights elves, or high fantasy medieval style
  • Lillani - catsuits and cloaks
  • Simon - scuba diving gear
  • Lorita - ?
  • Allatu - purple clothes, elf ears
  • Kit - cute skirts, turtlenecks, little hats
  • Golda - anything furry, preferably rats if you haven’t already got a furry avatar
  • Gideon - ?

(Sorry if I had a ? by your name, please feel free to amend this list so I can pass it around again). Then, on the designated day, we all get together for a series of group photos… everyone dressed up as each person in turn. It may be a little difficult to do an impression for everyone, but let’s try to do as many as we can.

Welcome to Ahern!

Tuesday, January 2nd, 2007

So today I decided to hang out in the Ahern welcome area. That’s not actually the original welcome area (I think Plum is), but it’s the first one they made as a 4-sim cluster. It usually has a permanent traffic problem, with lots of lag, blingtards, and the occassional newbie.

So I like helping newbies. I keep telling people I’m nuts. But they never believe me. Maybe this’ll convince you all.

So anyway, I’m there maybe 2 minutes when his guy comes along and says hello in Japanese. So I say hello to him. In English. To be fair, my profile does say I can speak Japanese. It also says I can speak Serbo-Melanesian. Don’t take everything you read as the literal truth. Use a little judgement maybe guys?

Apparently, that reply in English didn’t put him off the Japanese schtick. He tried to continue the conversation in Japanese. Now, I am fairly certain he wasn’t Japanese. Japanese people do not type Japanese using English characters. And they don’t use “anata” the way this guy was. But I have been wrong before. call me a cynic. So I switched to Japanese typing mode, and replied to him in fluent Japanese. Lo and behold! He was stumped!

Guys, if you want to be charming and friendly, that’s cool. Need help? That’s cool. Practice your Japanese? That’s cool too. But if your Japanese vocabulary is limited to “hello”, “how are you”, “awesome”, and “cute”, then perhaps you need to take some more classes before going for conversation practice.

New Year Resolutions

Monday, January 1st, 2007

Not much really happened today. I touched heads with my SL family briefly, but that’s about it I guess. Instead, it’s time to start thinking about new year resolutions…

  1. Re-open my store.
  2. Broaden my line of products. Pre-fab Buildings don’t sell anywhere near as well as clothes.
  3. Start really exploring Second Life again. Recently I seem to have been staying in the same 2 or 3 sims.
  4. Err…
  5. That’s it.
