Once Upon a Time…
Once upon a time, in the Land of Zendra, there lived three blind mice. The mice lived in the pantry of the royal palace. they lived very well there, for the royal chef was careless, and often left crumbs of food where they could eat them. In time, the three mice grew quite comfortable from all this food. Indeed, one could almost call them the nobility of the mouse population within the kingdom.
One day, a poor, hungry, starving mouse found his way into the royal pantry. This mouse, Semuel was his name, used to live in the kitchen of a very poor family. The family was so poor that they didn’t have time for fancy words such as larder or pantry; for them, there was the kitchen and that was it. Barely a crumb fell to the floor before it was eaten by that family, for they could not afford to let any food go to waste. And of course, Semuel was a hungry mouse because of that.
So, Semuel found his way into the royal pantry, and the floor was thick with crumbs of food, there for the eating. It was probably just as well that the mice did eat these crumbs, for the royal cleaners never cleaned the pantry, and it would have been incredibly messy without the mice.
But while Semuel was busy taking his fill of the food, the three noble mice found him gorging on their food. They were very angry. “Stop, thief!” they all cried. And they began to chase him away. They chased him all over the pantry, through the larder, and into the kitchen. And they continued to chase poor Semuel. They chased him into the royal reception rooms, and all the way into the queen’s bed chambers. There, a serving maid screamed in terror at the mice.
But not for long. For very soon after, she recovered her wits, grabbed a hunting shotgun, and shot at the four mice. The three fat, so-called noble mice were too slow, and were killed, But Semuel escaped, since he was leaner and faster than the rest.

That’s just a little story I wrote in a thirty minute challenge I set myself. It was while on one of many temp job assignments. For some odd reason, the company had reset my passwords, so I was unable to do any work until it got set back, but I was still getting paid, apparently to write bad fairy tales.
